Adrift in a post-apocalyptic world, they only have each other. Is it enough?

A virus that turns the infected into zombie-like killers spreads through a burning world thrown into lawless chaos. Lovers Parker and Adam have escaped to the open sea when they hear a message over the airwaves from a place called Salvation Island—a supposed safe haven.

Orphaned as a child, werewolf Adam has always longed for a pack. He’s eager to investigate the island, but Parker doesn’t think for a nanosecond that the voice on the radio can be believed. He doesn’t trust anyone but Adam and is determined to keep it that way. They don’t need anyone else complicating their struggle to survive. Or do they?

Danger on the high seas can surface in a heartbeat, and if Parker and Adam aren’t careful, the current will drag them under.

This gay romance is a dystopian adventure featuring a werewolf, his boyfriend, and their struggle to find a place to call home.

Kick at the Darkness surprisingly enough was one of my Top 10 books of last year. Why surprisingly? Well, I’m more of a contemporary romance reader. Dystopian, zombies, and werewolves aren’t exactly my thing but from the first page, I was hooked. After reading KatD I wanted another book, but I feared whether it’d be as successful as book 1. I needn’t had worried because this book was kick a$$.

My highlights:

-Adam & Parker. I love their devotion to each other and the intensity with which they love one another.
-The characters that were introduced. They added to the story without overtaking it.
-The world that Keira Andrews has created. This world is dirty, gritty, and raw. It’s every man for himself. The author made me believe it. I can feel the despair and anguish that her characters feel.
-The chemistry between Adam & Parker—-> HOT. DAMN!
-The end. KA left us all emotionally satisfied while letting us know it’s not over.

Can this read be read as a standalone? Absolutely not! You have to read book one first, or you’ll be completely lost.

Any negatives? Nope.

All in all, this sequel was a complete success. If you want an edgy, raw, intense romance do yourself and pick up this series! 5 Stars!

I'm a thirty-something Colombian mother of two. My favorite pastime is to get lost in a book. I'm more of a fluffy romance reader- though I do love an angsty read. I don't often read Mystery/Suspense nor dark stories. I also NEVER knowingly read stories that don't end in an HEA or at least HFN. I LOATHE cliffhangers with a passion and not a huge fan of stories with cheating, but it's not a deal breaker. My favorite tropes are: -Best friends to lovers -May/December -Hurt/comfort/healing -Opposites attract -Humor (as long as it's not slapstick type comedy) My favorites authors are: -Lane Hayes -Santino Hassell -Kade Boehme -TJ Klune -Heidi Cullinan -NR Walker -Eli Easton -Amy Lane -Keira Andrews -Nick Pageant -Annabeth Albert -Jay Northcote -Riley Hart/Nyrae Dawn -Melanie Hansen Some of my all time favorites stories are: -The Five Boroughs Series by Santino Hassell -Carry the Ocean by Heidi Cullinan -BOATK Series by TJ Klune (anything he writes actually) -Let's Hear It For The Boy by TA Webb -A Kind of Truth by Lane Hayes -Strong Signal by Santino Hassell & Megan Erickson -Superhero by Eli Easton NetGalley Member since 2015 2016 NetGalley Challenge 80% Professional Reader 2015 Challenge Participant
