The ladies in Martin Bale’s graduate honours class dragged him with them to the “ladies night” at the local strip club for a 21st birthday celebration. He has no idea what he’s in for as his companions have a rocking good time with the strippers. When the main attraction Lonnie seems to be interested in him, at first he thinks it’s a mistake. After all, what would such a hot guy want with a shy, awkward dork like him who blushes at the drop of a hat? But it appears that Lonnie does indeed want him.
Lonnie is intrigued by the shy English professor and wants to know him a whole lot better. He’s a very busy guy, holding down 4 jobs – personal trainer, massage therapist (the legal kind), artist model and in his “spare” time he’s a stripper/dancer. When they leave the club they both have one thing on their minds and it’s not coffee. They go dancing at a local night spot where Lonnie teaches the professor some new moves and he proves to be a quick study. Soon they decide that the next stop is Marty’s apartment. Lonnie is entranced by his new best friend whom he thinks is wonderful and when the clothes disappear he realizes that there is even more to Marty than appears on the surface.
Will this unlikely duo be able to make it beyond the first date?
Bump and Grind is a delightful short story and the two protagonists were really beautifully drawn. Lonnie is very sensitive to the needs of the shy professor and Marty the introvert, who can’t believe that he is Lonnie’s most unlikely love interest, opens up and responds to his gentle flattery. If you want to spend some time with two men who will make you feel great to have met them, pick up a copy of Bump and Grind.
