THE REVIEW
I really love dragon shifters and Bane was like the king of all dragons with his commanding presence as befitted a 657 year old dragon. But for him to fall for a mere slip of a girl, twenty year old Sianna Richter, when he had vowed that he had no intention of taking and training another Rider after the death of his last one, showed the power of his feelings for her. Sianna, on the other hand, has always been fascinated by dragons despite her heritage and lifestyle as one of the privileged class in Ketall which is the home of dragons.The first time Sianna sees Bane she realizes that he epitomizes all that she has longed for and that he is the answer to what she has been searching for – a purpose for her life.
Sparks fly between Sianna and Bane but very quickly he recognizes that she’s destined to become very important to him despite the fact that he had vowed never to love again. It seems that the gods had other ideas and he and Sianna begin the bonding process which of course involves a whole lot of very hot sex. They had not completed their bonding as dragon and Rider when they leave on a very important mission – to rescue Bane’s offspring Dargo and his Rider who had disappeared.
This story is the second book in the Dragon Riders series and the characters from the previous book make brief appearances. Marty Rayne’s protags seem real even though they are paranormal because she does such a good job with her characterizations. The emotions are all there – love, hate, jealousy and greed and I fell in love with this story just as I did with the first book Bonded Hearts. For me there is such romance about these mythical creatures with their incredible colours and legendary powers, and of all paranormals they fascinate me the most. The fight scenes are well choreographed, the tension builds and there are unexpected revelations and a great deal of suspense. I will be reading many more books by Marty Rayne.
At the end of the book it’s clear that Dragon Riders 3 is on the horizon and I have a very good idea whose story it’s going to be. I highly recommend Dragon Riders 2: Reluctant Hearts and while you can read it as a standalone it would be enjoyed better if you read Bonded Hearts first.
Oh woa, I totally forgot about this book *headdesk* well actually the first book. It’s been on my to read list for a while with several exclamations, but I forgot it. Must read soon!!

Hey Larissa I try my best. Some of the books I review are not as new as others but cover the genres I love and dragons are definitely a fave. I did prefer Bonded Hearts because it had a mix of contemporary as well as paranormal but this one was really good as well.
