  I’ll admit I do. I’ve always thought I was in the minority when it came to women watching any porn at all because it’s always been something I’ve considered as viable foreplay. I’m very visually oriented, and I got over any squeamishness I might have had when I was in college and worked at a video store that rented it out. When you’ve had to watch a few hundred videos because a customer claims it’s faulty, they lose their power to shock after a while, lol.

  Frankly, gay porn is the same as straight porn for me. I do watch it, I do enjoy it, I don’t see a problem with it.

    From my research you’re certainly not in the minority. Most people watch but don’t admit it.
    I would say that I don’t enjoy straight porn as much as gay porn for the reasons outlined in the post, but years ago I did have my fave porn actors who are probably still getting it on with a newer generation of ‘enhanced’ female porn actresses. Oh yes, as foreplay, porn can’t be beat.:)

  I absolutely watch gay porn! In fact I have a larger collection then some gay friends. I left curiosity years back and now watch it for the reason it was made. I sometimes veer into Bi porn and rarely watch straight porn. Though what straight porn I watch comes from gay sites. (It seems as if the gay porn sites are realizing they are starting to have a large straight girl audience and are trying to cater to them. From what I understand it’s a fairly newish phenomena…though I could be wrong.) And yes, there does seem to be a difference in quality and style. I don’t know where they find the guys for straight porn on straight sites but eeeyuk. The guys on gay sites are much better looking.

  As for whether the interest in gay porn grew out of my reading habits….I’m not sure. It may be a question of chicken and the egg. My initial response to m/m fiction was shock and some “eww” but that wore off when I found the right characters and fell in love with the great stories. So I guess, yeah, the porn came later. But I don’t know if it a natural growth out of the fiction cause I look at them as two totally separate things. Even when I’m reading hot erotica, I’m in it for the story and characters. When I’m watching porn….it’s all about the sex.

  As for whether the explosion of gay porn is linked to net access….well, it can’t hurt. I’m sure for me, I couldn’t imagine even knowing about this stuff much less getting my hands on it if I didn’t have the Internet. I’m sure there are people who have other ways but for me, it was essential. Not just the porn but the books. Being able to type “gay paranormal romance” in a search engine and actually get a response still boggles my mind but yet, here we are.

  James Lear hit it on the head for my experience. As I’ve struggled in the past to try and explain my “odd” hobbies to friends and family I’ve often said similar things to the “one is good, two is better” statement. Nice to know he appreciates his female audience.

  I LOVE GAY PORN.

  Being first introduced to gay romance when reading Anne Rice’s “Armand” when I was 13, I’ve been a huge fan of gay porn/yaoi/BL/ m/m- whatever you want to call it- since then. Even though I’m a bi (recently changed to pan) female, and I have a girlfriend of seven years, I can’t stand watching lesbian porn. Heck, I can barely watch straight porn unless the girl is being done up the butt.

  There is just more appeal to it, I guess.I can’t really explain it. All I can say is that I didn’t like Brokeback Mountain because the romance didn’t seem real enough to me and the actually sex was waaaaay too soft-core for my tastes.

Like Vivien, I’m very visually oriented so I’ve always liked to look at sexually explicit photos and movies (both straight and gay). I enjoy professionally made gay porn, but I also like amateur gay porn because even though it can sometimes take some serious digging through schlock to find it, there are some really good, honest videos out there of actual couples who you can tell not only have way hot sex, but also really care about each other. Those are my faves. But I’ve watched vids of most everything you can imagine and don’t find too many things a turn off.

  And, yes, I think ease of access makes a huge difference in how many people watch porn. Just like the Internet made slash and erotic fiction way more easily accessible.

    What I love about you is that you’re totally upfront about this. Many authors would be afraid of hurting their “image” and wouldn’t even respond to a poll on a topic such as this.

    It’s amazing what’s available free on the internet especially the amateur stuff and the number of sites that cater to people who love porn. I don’t find regular porn as erotic for the reasons I stated above, but gay porn – hot damn.:)

    You have to share some of your fave sites. I really love the amateur gay porn sites and I wish I could order more movies from the US but Canada Customs is very vigilant, although I believe there are many sites based in Vancouver from where I can order whatever I want.

  It’s not something I’ve ever gone looking for. The types of gay movies you mention above or some episodes of Torchwood are about the most I’ve seen. I think I mostly prefer books.
  Is there much gay porn targeted at women – aside from in Japan maybe? And even in Japan, I know there’s gay porn anime, but is there live action stuff that’s aimed at women rather than men? And if there is, what’s the difference? And do you folks who have seen it have a preference?

    My experience is limited but from what I’ve seen of the gay porn “straight vids” there is more camera focus on the man’s body. Everything from chest, thighs, ass, and penis…they all get camera time. From what I’ve seen of straight porn for straight men, it’s all about the girl’s body and the man’s body is hidden behind the girl or avoided.

    Granted these are generalizations and not everything will be exactly like this but that’s what I’ve noticed.

  I absolutely watch porn — gay, straight, bi — and have since I was a late teen in the mid eighties when the new video (VHS) store opened up the street and they had…gasp!…a “room.” Oh my! My friends and I would go there and one would watch out for people we knew (like our parents!) and the rest would go in behind the curtain and pick a few out. And then pick out a few regular movies, too, just for appearances. *g* The we would smuggle them into our parents’ homes as none of us lived away at the time, go into the basement family rooms where the single VHS player was usually and watch it under cover of darkness. At first, we’d all laugh and joke about the cheesy lines and music. The basements were generally cool, even in summer, so we’d throw blankets over ourselves and after the laughter died down, well, hands got busy! No one would admit to it, though, LOL. Oh, and then came the time when my parents sat me down and said something like “So, we got a late notice on a rental from XX video store and it was porn. We just want you to know that it’s normal to watch that and all.” Embarrassment didn’t even cover it! I watch it mostly to get a better sense of what was going on in the stories when 2 guys were having sex. Helps me “picture” things. I like the visuals because they then make the stories “hotter” when in my head I insert the clip from the gay porn into the story with the characters as the two actors.

It’s just too much and too graphic. It’s hot to write and read about it but when I actually see it I feel overwhelmed. lol, I know, crazy, huh?
