REVIEW

Chris Kearney is an overworked surgeon in danger of burning out. Drew Hayden is a detective on a gang task force. Both men work high pressure jobs and have very little downtime. A brief meeting late one evening at the hospital ignites a spark that burns bright when they meet again in a grocery store. Their night together leads to more as Chris and Drew recognize they may have found with each other something that could last beyond the moment. But will Chris’ stress and Drew’s dangerous job tear them apart?

I really enjoyed this well written story. Chris and Drew are interesting and likable characters and their relationship kept me engaged throughout. The author gave each man enough of a voice so as to make them come alive for me. Despite the short length there is a lot of emotion packed into the pages of this story. The plot is simple but never boring and the sex scenes are hot and tender at the same time.

I was hooked from the first scene in which we meet a weary doctor frustrated and saddened by the senselessness of a young man’s death to the final scene when Chris and Drew realize just how good they are for each other. This is a wonderfully compelling story with memorable characters and I look forward to reading more stories by AR Moler. Highly recommended.
