Thank You Authors

In the past you, our authors, have been outstanding. This year I can’t find a word to describe your generosity – you have given and given again and we all as readers appreciate your generosity. I don’t believe that any other sub genre in the “Romance” genre has such wonderful authors as we do and we are very lucky to have you. I view our relationship with our authors as symbiotic in the best sense, and this was demonstrated by the number of books donated on Christmas Eve.

Many of you have been writing to find out who won your books and I understand that you want to get yours out to the winner(s) as soon as possible.  This is a huge project by any standard and we are working as fast as we can, given that yesterday was Christmas day and the three of us who undertook this project – Aunt Lynn, Cole and yours truly – were working under several trying circumstances which did not include the fact that we were celebrating the holidays with friends and family (who can be trying of themselves). 🙂 The response this year has been unprecedented and you can check the number of comments on the post to see how many we have to wade through. Our biggest problem this year is that many readers, despite my request in the initial post on December 24, did not leave their email addresses. This made the job 10 times harder since it took Lynn and Cole sometimes 30 minutes to track down a single winner of a book. So if you’re wondering why it’s taking us 48 hours or more (has it only been two days)? to contact you that’s the main reason. This is not an excuse but an explantion.

I will personally be responding to those authors whose books I gave out so if you were lucky enough to be within the first 50 you will be hearing from me today. Cole and Aunt Lynn will also be in touch with those authors whose books they have awarded to readers. I will also be on the site today so if you have any questions or concerns feel free to leave a comment for me. We have to resolve a few double awards and I may be contacting you to ask you to stretch once more by giving up another book  if we made an error. I hope you will be as gracious as you have been throughout this process. I know you’re getting impatient but it’s only been 48 hours since we started – although one author who shall be nameless because I don’t want Aunt Lynn or Cole to hurt her – suggestecd that we would probably be working on giving out these books when Easter rolls around. Eeeek!! lol.

Thank you once again authors for your patience, and most of all for your generosity. M/M readers are very lucky to have you and we’re very proud of you. You are exceptional, not only as authors but also as people who wanted to give back, and you did.

Damn, I’m going to have to hide that “negative” review I wrote last night. Kidding!!!

A special “thank you” to Ethan Day and he knows why. Sorry, Ethan, but I didn’t promise not to say anything about that large cheque you sent me. ^-^ It was good of you to do that in place of the jock you were going to auction off to raise money for my favourite charity – me. 🙂

  • Wave, I can’t even imagine the amount of hard work you, Cole and Aunt Lynn have devoted to this enormous project. And enormous is a good word, I DID see the number of comments y’all had to work through, wow. THANK YOU to all three of you for giving up your time here at the holidays in order to get this thing done! FWIW, I don’t see how it’s even possible to get it all worked out what belongs to who and all the emails sent in less than a week.

    • Ally
It is a lot of work but we don’t mind. We did have a few challenges – both Cole and I came down with the flu and Cole worked through his and I had to entertain “the family” yesterday b/c it was Christmas. Lynn did yeoman’s service when we were indisposed and she continues to do so today. Our main challenge continues to be readers who didn’t leave their email addressed.

We are working behind the scenes to send out emails to the authors today and hope to have most of this project licked by tomorrow.

Thank you again Ally for your generosity. Two whole series. WOW.

  • I want to chime in with my thanks to Ethan Day and to you, Wave and Aunt Lynn and Cole. You guys worked harder than Christmas elves on this holiday and made a lot of fans very happy!

    • Hi rosesarered

I’m sure we all appreciate your thanks. It’s a project I personally undertook 3 years in a row, and when Aunt Lynn and Cole volunteered this year I jumped on their offer and was I glad I did, b/c I never expected the response to my annual appeal and there was no way I could have done this on my own again. So thanks to Aunt Lynn and Cole from me too.

You’re right – Ethan is a doll, but we won’t tell him. 🙂

    • Thanks Roses,

I’m just going to say that Ethan is crazy and I don’t see how everyone else is missing it — because he’s going to get such a big head after all these compliments 🙂

      • Aw…you guys are all so sweet…even Cole…the compliment killer!! ; ) Just kidding!!!

I don’t think I did all that much, and certainly no more than anyone else. All the finger-pointy-praising should really be turned back to all of you, for taking on such a ginormous task. Seriously, you’d have found me cowering in a corner, weeping, had it been up to me to help man this undertaking. And two of you were sick to boot!!

I’m the world’s biggest baby when I’m sick…it would not have been pretty. That I can promise. Y’all would’ve seen a whole new side of me…and you would have been screaming at me to put it away! Ally’s poor manwhores would have run back to her begging for asylum!! : )

I do hope everyone enjoys their books and that the three of you eventually get the feeling back in your mouse-clicking fingers. (I was going to insert some dirty comment here about other things y’all might want to do with those fingers in the future – but I assumed you might decide to show me an altogether different finger if I had)

Now that I’ve spread a little of my smutty cheer all over the place I suppose I’ll go back to work. LOL!

I hope everyone had a very fairy Christmas!!

  • I’ve only been visiting this site for a few months so this was my first author give away and I’m amazed and impressed with the generosity of the authors and everyone’s hard work. Thank you.

By this time next year I’ll have a book out – maybe even two if I can get my butt in gear – and I plan on paying back by donating (if that’s okay). 😀

    • Thanks Chris! I just gave Wave your info about winning Snow and Mistletoe by TC Blue. So you should be getting your book soon!

  • It has been amazing! I don’t thing there is a genre with authors as generous as these!

I already received my loot and is very happily enjoying said loot!

Go Wave, it can’t be easy to have to organise it all! Everyone has been amazing!

  • Aunt Lynn, Wave and Cole – you guys are amazing! I didn’t ask for anything this year, but thank you for all of your hard work. Also thank you authors – you all rock!

Wave and Cole – sorry about the flu. Feel better soon. Aunt Lynn get some much deserved rest!

And I’m not surprised that the crazy Day boy did something incredibly sweet. He hides a heart of gold behind that wise ass facade. Thank you – you sweet boy! 😉

    • Thanks TJ,

I think Wave is getting completely exasperated by me — she keeps telling me to go to bed, but I’m bored and I hate being sick so I keep coming back 🙂

I hope you had a good Christmas! And because I was sick, I did get that breakfast in bed. Sadly, it wasn’t from two hotties, though lol.

      • You are dedicated Cole! Wave was very lucky to have recruited you. Although hottie free – I’m glad you got your breakfast in bed. You deserve it.

      • Aww Ethan baby, I’m sure you’re still as hot as ever with your rock star hair. Besides, I like a man with a little meat on him. 😉

      • Ethan
It’s better to have a heart of gold than hips of gold. 🙂 “Curvy” is not a good word to describe a guy – at least that’s what they tell me. 😉

  • A big thanks to you and your team for all the hard work you did to give us reader a good start to our holidays.
I also agree with you that the authors were generous. Thanks to all of them. Happy Holidays everyone!

  • It is an enormous amount of work to take on, and over Christmas too! I’m not at all impatient but I am relieved to find that I didn’t overlook my winners and am not late in getting my books to them. I’ll sit tight and wait to hear, in that case 🙂

Thank you! And Happy New Year!

  • Thanks for doing this. What a fun way to show reader appreciation! I hope you and Cole get better soon, and that Aunt Lynn doesn’t fall ill from exhaustion. The only soup I can send is vegetarian, not chicken, but you’re welcome to it.

  • A big thank you to the authors who donated books. Thank you does not seem enough for all the hard work it took for y’all to pull this off. Thank you, thank you, thank you, Wave, Cole, and Aunt Lynn! Y’all totally rock the internet!

  • Yes, the authors were incredibly generous in their giving. And, hopefully, we fans were gracious in our receiving. But without you, Wave & Aunt Lynn & Cole, the two groups wouldn’t have met in the middle. This give-away would have been more tangled then a string of Christmas lights!! So, many thanks to the authors, but just as many to you three for organizing the event and running it smoothly!!

    • I couldn’t have said it better than this, so I’m not even going to try. I’ll just add an ‘amen’ and toss in a few dozen extra thanks! This site, these authors, this community, are all clearly awesome as I am truly awed.

  • Take as long as you need, Wave. I appreciate all the hard work that went into this and thank you for arranging it. Have a good holiday!

  • Many thanks to the authors and the workers. You’ve put in a lot of hard work in a very busy season out of the goodness of your hearts. Thanks!

  • A huge thank you to the authors, yes–but also to Wave, Aunt Lynn, Cole, and anyone I’m overlooking who worked on this massive giveaway! 😀

  • This was really great thing you have done, Wave, Cole and Aunt Lynn! Taking time from your holiday, even sick! And authors were more than generous.

So, I think, everyone will agree that being patient is the least we could do to help make thing easier for you. Take your time and, more importantly, get well. Thank you!

  • My hat’s off to you for taking this on, Wave, Aunt Lynn, and Cole. It’s a wonderful way to reach out to readers at the holidays and I know it’s appreciated by one and all.

  • I know I said it many times, but well, as I am sure many readers know, there is no better present for a book lover than a book (and two books are even better, hehe). Thank you authors and Wave and Cole, get better soon, thank you guys.

  • First time I’ve done this, but I put up some books. Do you get the link from the publisher or do I send it to you? Sorry, I’m suffering from mass holday confussion.

    • Hi Lisa
Sometime late tonight or early tomorrow you will get an email with the contact email for the winners. You should then contact them and send out the books. I believe I just gave out a couple of your books. Alternatively you could go on the post which I’ve linked and if you check the following comments you’ll see where I have awarded 3 of your books. I think one is still available

      http://www.gayromance.org/?p=37938&cpage=5#comment-90168

Comments Nos. 243, 249 and 257 are all yours and the winners’ email addresses are on the comments. If you do decide to write them immediately please leave a comment on each one so I will know I don’t have to email you. Thanks.

Update: I just awarded your last book at #270 so you’re good to go.

  • Many many thanks to the generous authors! I was stunned at the number of books donated. Picking out my choices almost drove me crazy.

And a very huge thank you to Wave, Cole and Aunt Lynn. I can’t even begin to imagine how you kept yourselves sane in the middle of that frenzy. Hats off.

Wave and Cole, be well soon!

  • As Santa’s helpers, you three are the BEST! To work sick and tired, you guys are better than, well, the US Post Office. Thank you again to the authors. I know I’m enjoying my Ethan Day book. And thank you to Wave, Cole and Aunt Lynn. I’ve only found the site a short time ago, but it’s become my favorite and most trusted place for book rec’s. Thank you for that, as well.
    Marilyn

  • Wow, what great feedback and praise! Thank you all for the wonderful comments — and the very generous donations, authors — and you are very welcome. It was (mostly) my pleasure. 🙂 It was a ton of work that isn’t over yet, and as Wave said, the biggest problem was missing email addresses from both readers and authors. Next year, no email = no giftie. 😉 And there are some things on the back end we’ll change to make it smoother. I can’t believe Wave did this all herself before now! Seriously, it was totally worth it and I’m so happy the readers –and authors — had a good time and some wonderful book booty.

  • I really want to thank Wave, Cole, Aunt Lynn and all the authors that generously donated books! I understand it has to be a lot of work and I really appreciate it. I looked at the give-away of last year, and it has really grown, that must have been a surprise. I hope you still got to enjoy your holidays!

  • Just want to add my thanks to Wave, Aunt Lynn and Cole for all their work on this and to all the authors for contributing. What an undertaking! This site rocks. Hope Wave and Cole are feeling better. 🙂

  • Wave, Cole, Aunt Lynn and all the awesome authors thanks for all your hard work and generosity…you all are truly amazing.

My best Christmas present this year(besides my new puppy Leo)is my book Model Student, thanks Shae Connor can’t wait to read it!

  • I also wanted to say a big thank you to Wave, Aunt Lynn, Cole and all of the authors. Thank you, thank you, thank you! The kindness and generosity of everyone made my Christmas a happy one.

  • This was a huge endeavor and I can’t imagine the time it took from your holiday for the three of you to do this. Many thanks to you Wave, Aunt Lynn, and Cole! We’ve all seen the measure of your Christmas spirit this season and it’s incomparable! And I’m beyond pleased to belong to this community of authors who give back to readers. Watching this unfold has made my holiday. (Which wasn’t going well so I needed the Christmas cheer.)

You all deserve a standing ovation and many wishes for a wonderful New Year!

    • Lex,

Thank you! You were very generous in your donations and you made some lucky readers very happy. I hope your New Years goes better 🙂

  • I just wanted to thank everyone who has responded to wish Wave, Lynn, and I well. Your generosity authors, and your thanks readers, have made this a wonderful holiday. Even though it has been tons of work (and continues to be), I know that I’m glad for it and I would help do it again. Its worth it to help make your holidays special. So to you winners: Enjoy your books! And to you authors: You’ve made 2010 one of the best as I got to go along on a thousand adventures with your characters. Thank you!

  • I want to say “THANK YOU” to all the authors, Jessewave and Aunty Lynn who generously contribute books and gift certificates to us readers and also to Jessewave, Aunty Lynn, Cole and all the helpers who graciously put this “Christmas Wish” list up and patiently taking care the readers choice/needs during Christmas Eve/Day/Boxing Day in this wonderful blog

Without you, none of this would be possible.

  • Once again, I have to comment on how wonderful this site is for so many reasons: Wave, Aunty Lynn, Cole (you’re awesome!), guest reviewers and all the wonderful authors who take the time not to just write such great books but who actually take the time to come on this site and participate. It’s like one big giant online family! This giveaway was so fantastic and it was definitely worth getting up at such a godawful hour on Christmas Eve because I got the books I have been wanting for a while now! Thank you, thank you, everyone here!

    • Angelica
Thank you for saying that this site is like one big online family. When I started it that’s what my objective was and I’m very happy that this group is making such an impact.

We appreciate all the authors but also our loyal readers who drop by every day for no reason other than to say hi and (hopefully) comment on the posts and reviews which we prepare carefully with you in mind. Although we love the authors the reviews are for the readers and if we don’t think a book is up to par we say so, not unkindly, but it’s clear from the narrative why we rated a book the way we did. I hope that more of you readers will comment on the reviews (not only on the ones that are 5 stars but the 3 stars as well) because we do this job for you.

Happy holidays everyone and a safe New Year.

  • Thanks to all the very generous authors and you guys (Wave, Aunt Lynn, Cole) for putting this together!

A thought how the readers can also say Thanks is by going to places like Amazon or Goodreads and leave a review or place tabs for the author so their stories can reach a larger audience.

  • Again to all the authors that donated books, I would like to say Thank You for your continuing generosity….and to Wave, Aunt Lynn and Cole? What a generous donation of YOUR time too…cause on the Holidays all I have the time to do is wrap and watch the 8 year old unwrap 😉

Thanks to all of you that are here all year long to make my life SO much richer! My favorite authors, reviewers AND new friends are all in one place and I love it here! I hope you all had a wonderful Christmas and (upcoming) Boxing Day 🙂

  • Wave, I have a sneaking suspicion I left the wrong email address in my post when I offered up a copy of (what did I offer?) I think it was my Christmas ebook By Any Other Name.

    The correct email address is:
    grrichards@ymail.com

I apologize for my inability to keep track of anything, including the proper spelling of my email address. My head is bolted to my shoulders, but it isn’t helping.
    Cheers,
    GRR

  • I really am in awe of all the work the giveaway was this year. That only THREE of you managed it is mind-boggling!

If you decide to do it again next year, I really do think it should be called “the Great Christmas Book Pounce, 2011” *hee* Because those books DO get pounced, right out of the gate! LOL

Congrats, Wave, Aunt Lynn and Cole, for pulling it off! I’m thinking YOU deserve prezzies. *nod nod*

With that in mind, any of you three lovelies let me know if I’ve written anything you’d like to have. I’m happy to email whatever in .pdf (I know, I know, but it’s all I have) to you. 🙂

    ~Tis

    • Thank you so much! That’s very generous of you. Also, Thank You for donating so many books to the giveaway. It is certainly generous to donate a book for a reader to win, but to donate several series’ like you did and then offer to hand out an extra book when we screwed it up was wonderful of you. I hope you have an exciting and safe New Year!

      • Meh. With 800+ comments to deal with, the least I could do was offer up a second copy. *grins* At least it wasn’t ME having to deal with all the craziness! LOL

Hope the rest of your holiday season is as lovely as you’ve been throughout this whole thing!

        ~Tis

    • Tis
Now you know why I still haven’t reviewed your books. They’re coming in January. Sorry. 🙂

Thanks for all your donations Tis, despite personal trials and tribulations mere hours before the cut off for donations. tee hee. I AM sympathetic, really. lol.

  • A big thank you from me to everyone who made this possible. To the author who were so generous and to the team who organized this. I won Out of the Closet by KevaD and I enjoyed it tremendously. As I was rather late to comment, I didn’t expect to win anything but this way I ended out reading a great book that never would have come across my attention otherwise.

Thank you! Thank you! Thank you!
