I will be interviewing writing partners Jaye Valentine and Reno MacLeod on March 9 and I would like you to get in on the action by asking them questions.
This time I’m hoping for more interesting and probing questions than the usual “Where do you get your inspiration?” We know where they get their inspiration. lol. I would like you to dig deeper so that we can get a sense of what really gets their motor running and makes this writing duo’s books so hard to put down. I have read a few of their stories recently and their writing is not for those readers who like to play on the safe side of the bed. 🙂
Jaye’s upcoming release D.N.A Genetic Sexual Attraction should be out by the time this interview goes live, so I hope to review it and give you all the dirt scoop about it and a few other J & R books.

You are probably already asking them this, but I’m curious how their writing partnership works? Do they each sort of have specific parts of the writing they excel at and have they settled into those over time? Do they bat characters and ideas back and forth? I’d love to hear more about the process of writing as a team 🙂
Also, I’m curious what the strangest thing they’ve done for research is? I can imagine that this could go many different ways, as they’re so inventive!

The first one is already on the list since I always ask writing partnerships how they work together, and who does what to whom (although with this pair it’s probably not a safe question). 🙂
Why don’t you try another one that’s just as good as question no. 2 – maybe you could come up with a question for the boyz in the hot tub. lol
I love Jaye and Reno’s writing and I have been a fan of their books for years. I always wondered how they met and decided to write together. Maybe they met through writing which makes me curious if both of them have been published before they started their collaboration and if those publications are still available. Since Jaye and Reno are the only m/m romance authors I know of who are writing partners and in a relationship together I am terribly fascinated by them. They always came across as a wonderful couple and they have been a great inspiration for writing and in real life. I have often asked myself how their writing influences their relationship. I mean it is a given that their relationship would somehow influence their writing. But how influences the fact that you have to discuss things you wouldn’t normally talk about with your partner your life together? When you constantly have to reflect on the dynamics of the relationships of your characters, will you get more reflective on your own relationship and more critical or more understanding?
Or can you simply draw a line between real life and the fictional life of your characters? I am not even sure they would answer such questions since they became much more protective of their private life during the last half year. And maybe it doesn’t really matter and has no influence on their intriguing books. For all we know ‘Jaye Valentine & Reno MacLeod’ is just a wonderful fantasy and very clever invention by a chick with a strange humor and a lot of time on her hands. 😉
This probably goes with the question about the writing partnership but I read that when they write, Jaye and Reno sit in separate rooms and I’m wondering what the reasons are for that.
Question for Jaye – when you write your solo books, do you pick Reno’s brain for feedback and does he have an influence on what you’re writing on your own?
Question for Reno – you design a lot (all?) of the covers for you and Jaye, how did you start doing that and how freaking great does it feel to have your words and images on your own books. 😛

I have no idea how to word this Q but I was thinking that this writting duo might be the answer to a past post. Several months ago you did a post on the conspicuous lack of erotic toy use in m/m fic.Maybe this writting couple could do some tax deductuble research and fill that fiction void? Just a thought…
