My Secret Valentine is a follow-up story to Dinner and a Movie, reviewed by Wave here.
Jeremy and his twin Brian have been involved in a sexual relationship with each other for a couple of months when this story begins. Brian is a college student while Jeremy works full time at a construction job to support them both. It’s Valentine’s Day and Jeremy’s friends are discussing what to do for their girlfriends, which brings up lots of discomfort for Jeremy. He’s unsure what to make of his relationship with his brother now. He expects Brian to soon tire of the sex between them and move on to a more socially acceptable boyfriend. Jeremy is far more invested in the two of them together than he thinks his brother is–he’s been in love with his twin since they were fifteen. And the continued presence of Brian’s attractive new study-buddy, Drew, heightens all Jeremy’s worst fears. When Drew invites Brian to a Valentine’s Day LGBT dance, Jeremy is sure the end is near.
I read this last week when Wave sent it to me and immediately downloaded the previous book because I felt I’d missed something important. I was right. The first book is slightly longer than this one and is far more intense, as it provides the back story necessary to make a connection or investment in the relationship between these two brothers. They’re both easy, quick reads with some humor and a lot of feeling. That said, I had to re-read My Secret Valentine this morning before writing this because I honestly didn’t remember more than “twins, Valentine’s Day, study buddy.”
If twincest or Valentine’s Day is your thing, then you should check out these stories, preferably in order. There are far worse ways to spend twenty-thirty minutes. But, if you’re like me, you won’t remember them in the morning.
Hmm. I haven’t read the first one but I do have a thing for twins so I might check it out but I’ll be sure to read them in order, or maybe together to get the proper sense.
Hi, Tam. Yes, reading them together would be a good idea. Why didn’t I think of that? 🙂 This is my second foray into the realm of twincest. These were much better stories than my first try. If you read them, I hope you enjoy them.
LMAO. I’ve not read a twin story, maybe I need to start here, so that if I don’t like it, I won’t remember it.
LOL You know, Marilyn, all you have to lose is your memory! Give it a shot, I say! Seriously, I’ve been reading so many really great books lately that these two boys just sort of slipped through the cracks. It’s nothing against them, they just didn’t stick with me as much as some of the others I’ve read recently.

You know that twincest is my kink so I definitely will be reading this book. I didn’t realize that it was a sequel of Dinner and a Movie – you should have requested it rather than spending your hard earned cash.

I liked the book, but the first one was better for me. The angst level was higher, so I felt there was more to lose in the Dinner and a Movie.
The first twincest book I read was memorable for all the wrong reasons, as we discussed. I can’t wait for your review of that one (ooh, look at that bus!).
Hmm. I may have to check out this Tinseltown Blues just to see why it’s so memorable! You’ve corrupted me forever. Don’t you feel great now? lol

I liked Tinseltown Blues because these 2 stories (yes there’s a sequel) 🙂 have the appropriate amount of guilt from one twin while the other twin used undue influence (if you know what I mean) to get rid of any conscience. 😉 No spoilers from me baby. I hope you realize that these two books are pamphlets.

Okay I have a correction. Jaye saw your review and my comments about twincest and he reminded me that Tinseltown 1 & 2 are not about twins – the guys are actually brothers. Since I know that you love bro-cest even more than twincest I didn’t think you would be put off by this.

Truthfully, Buda, I don’t know if my reaction to this story is “Eeuuww” or “Hmmmm…” It’s mostly neutral, I think. I have so many other books to read and this one isn’t calling to me. I appreciate the fact that you’ve done a great job with the review and checking into it’s prequel. Attention to detail is a wonderful thing. 😉
Patty, you know this was all in the name of proper research, right? I mean, I certainly had no prurient interest in reading DaaM. lol Actually, the thing with Jeremy and Brian is that they’re each a regular, well-adjusted college guy who has found his love. It just so happens, that love is his twin. It’s not the least bit creepy or weird–which may be weird in itself, I dunno. 😉 I’m not sure how these books would work for you, but I’d be interested in hearing your thoughts if you ever decide to read them.
