RuPaul’s Drag Race Cruise …… by Stephani Hecht

When Stephani and Cody Hecht told me they were going on RuPaul’s Drag Race cruise I asked them to put together a short post with photos, and now you get to enjoy their cruise without paying:

Stephani, Cody and Alexis Mateo Bam!

***************

During the entire cruise I found myself comparing it to GayRomLit. The good: Almost all of the Queens were open and so nice. They hung out with everybody and were always willing to pose for pictures, much like the authors at GRL. The bad: The coordinators of the cruise could really use a lesson in organization and tact from Ethan, Damon, Carol and the rest of the GRL team.

For example – we were promised several things: a cocktail party with an open bar, a free signed, professional photo with the Queen of our choice and a bottle of wine. What did we get? A paid bar, we could get our picture taken with a Queen but had to pay for it, and we’re still looking for our damn bottle of wine.

Despite all the disorganization, it didn’t take away from our enjoyment of the cruise. We saw many wonderful places such as the Bahamas, St. Thomas, San Juan, and The Grand Turks, band the ship was also nice. I even got a tattoo in the Bahamas – it was a spur of the moment thing and Cody was shocked.

But, let’s get back to the important part, the Queens. While RuPaul wasn’t there, Michelle Visage was present. Cody and I met her and we even chatted for a while. She expressed her gratitude that I was so supportive of my son. Later on when she passed by and said, “Hi, Cody” Cody almost fell over in shock that she actually remembered his name.  Not only that, but she was great as an emcee for the shows. I ended up being a fan of hers.

The high point for me was when I bumped into (okay, I stalked him down) Sharon Needles in the bar. Sharon wasn’t in drag, but did mention how much he admired my Ouija Board shirt. Then we both

Cody and Morgan

talked about Etsy and how we are such whores for the site.

Later on, we met Chad Michaels. Chad and I talked about how sad we were about missing The Walking

Dead. The entire time we were posing for the picture all I could think of was, OMG! Chad Michaels is right here touching me! I managed to keep that fangirl moment in, so I didn’t make a total ass of myself.

We did get to go to a private cocktail party for Sharon Needles. Not only was she there in full-drag, but so was her boyfriend, Alaska Thunderfuck. (yeah, you read that last name correctly) We also found out that Alaska is going to be on the upcoming season of RuPaul. So let’s go Team Alaska!!!

There were three drag shows, all of which were amazing. The high points for us were Morgan McMichaels, Jiggly,

Chad Michaels

Chad Michaels, Shangela and Manilla. Sharon’s and Alaska’s performance was R-rated, but very entertaining.  I

think they simulated every sex act imaginable, all the while singing their new song together.

I also learned that there is a big difference between ki-ki (which it to talk) and ki-ki (which is to have sex). It doesn’t help that they’re spelled the same, either. So, take note everybody, don’t get them mixed up or you could end up in trouble.

This next part will get avid fans laughing. I was at the penny slots when JuJuBee came up and said, “I want fried

chicken.” I laughed so hard that I didn’t mind that I’d just lost ten dollars.

Cody proved to be very popular on the cruise, whereas I became known as “the mom”. Not that I minded much, it was

Sharon Needles, Alaska Thunderfuck

nice to watch Cody stretch his wings out and fly a bit. He even made friends with a local couple who have a six-year old son.

In the end, would we do the cruise again? Hell, yes! In fact, we’re praying they have another one next year. Hopefully, we’ll see some of you there.

  • OMG! Looks like so much fun 🙂 Great pictures! So great that the Queens turned out to be nice and approachable.

  • Thank you for the amazing report and the cool pictures! It was just like I was there but without the seasickness. 😀

    • No problem! We had such a blast we can’t stop yapping about it. LOL As for seasickness, it would have been a problem for you. There were some days where it was so rough, we were walking around like a bunch of drunks.
