As you probably know, I’m always on a search for the best guest reviewers for this site, particularly those who can bring the breadth of their varied experiences to the books they review. Lloyd A. Meeker is one of those individuals and Aunt Lynn, Christian and I are very happy to welcome him and I hope you will too. Long ago and far away, I was a minister. And yes, it really was that long ago and that far away. A different life entirely. I mention it only because my metaphysical journey is the one story arc that makes sense of everything else I’ve gone through. So yeah, I’m wrinkled and gray-haired, both grateful and amazed to have made it this far. Actually, I’m pretty grateful to have hair of any color!
My coming-out story is, happily, the kind that is finally passing away. And should: the story of the late bloomer who always knew he was attracted to men but also was certain it was horribly wrong to feel that way. It’s been the adventure of my life, learning how my sexuality burns at the core of who and what I am spiritually. So maybe you can tell I’m an irredeemable romantic. It’s true.
I’m in love with language, and thrill when I find a writer who honors language as art as well as tells a great story. But whether they’re told in language rough or refined, I love the spell stories can cast, how they can ignite my sense of wonder and take me somewhere I couldn’t have got to on my own. Mostly, though, I’m just in love with love, and believe deeply in the power of love to overcome any challenge. I’ve seen it in my life, and in the lives of many others.
In my own writing I seek to explore the unique ways gay men live at the junction of the material and spiritual worlds, and the powerful beauty that can come from those experiences. I live in southern Florida with my very patient and durable husband, never far from friends and family, surrounded by orchids and giant hibiscus that take my breath away every morning.

I’ve been looking for a way to help me be more disciplined about reading more and thinking critically about writing while remaining focused on gay fiction. It seemed writing reviews was a good way to ensure I did both, and JesseWave seemed an ideal venue. And big thanks to Wave for letting me into the playpen.
