THE BLURB
Rugby—it’s all about scoring, whether it’s on the field… or off.
While on tour in Copenhagen, it seems nothing is going to stop the Irish from bringing home the trophy and taking the spoils of victory. And while teammates Conor and Sean work up a sweat on the field to claim their prize, the real competition begins after the whistle blows, as the lads discover that Copenhagen is full of hot distractions.
To be sure, there is nothing rotten in the state of Denmark! In fact, Danish men are ripe for the picking. They love sex, have no inhibitions, and they want Irish meat.
But as Conor and Sean put their friendship aside in the pursuit of the hottest Danish players, the question is, will their friendship survive the real sport of man hunting?
THE REVIEW
Confessions of a Gay Rugby Player 2 is the second in an erotic fiction series focusing on Irish rugby player Conor and his pals as they play and fuck their way across the globe. I reviewed the first book, one which I loved if for no other reason than its pure in-your-face smexxin, but Darcy is talented and can tell a tale. I was eager to see what shenanigans he would have Conor getting up to this time around, hoping for a filthy romp with some rugby thrown in. I wasn’t disappointed, though for a reason I’ll go into below, it wasn’t quite as fantabulous as the first for me.
Like the last book, it was incredibly funny, and some of the observations and internal thoughts, some of the things Conor says had me laughing out loud. There is something very charming about Conor, no matter how crude he is. As he says, he’s a “fucking sexual tyrannosaurus, and no hot piece of ass is safe.” That one’s got tickets on himself in a big way, and it’s hilarious.
One of the things I liked was that we got here some deeper character development as we learn more about Conor and Sean with a bit of backstory. That makes it, for me anyway, just a step above erotica with me beginning to care about the protags. I also liked that he gets rejected a bit. It makes him fallible and not the insatiable Gary-Sue he could be.
There is also more rugby here, with more detail of the matches in their tourney, so if rugby isn’t your thing, note that going in. You could skim those parts, but you would miss some of the fun as Conor can’t keep his mind out of the gutter as he slams into his opponents.
While I really enjoyed the whole package and it is a fun little read overall, I have to admit that a teensy bit of me didn’t find this second book quite as enjoyable as the first. Maybe because the initial shock had worn off over what to expect with all of the explicit smexxin? I don’t know, perhaps. Like book one, this one has a LOT of sex in it—graphic, no-hold-barred, ranchy sex, something that I don’t have a problem with—but unlike that first story, it felt just a little…forced to me here. I think the issue I had was that it felt like the author tried to incorporate so many variations of m/m smexxin as possible in the limited page count that it didn’t seem real. I know, this is fantasy, right? And the author, if you go by his blogs, is very sexually active so who knows, maybe these are pages right out of his life, but the first book felt more…paced, I think is the word I am looking for. I won’t spoil it with what he includes, but it was one-after-the-other piled on sex act after sex act. I felt like “let’s see…how about X? Okay! Now how about some Y? Great! And I think some Z would be fab!”
OVERALL
A good follow-up to the first book and continuation of Conor and friends, with tons o’ smexxin and rugby.

Copenhagen you say? I should read this, just to see if the author do my Capital justice
Yes, majken, Copenhagen. Though they don’t spend much time outside of a few clubs, the rugby pitch and hotel rooms. 🙂
