Uplifting Story: Jake Andraka, a giant of our time

jake andrakaI’m always pleased when I read about young people making their mark on the world and Jake Andraka is a shining example of what they are capable of.

Jack won the Intel Science Fair with his test for pancreatic cancer that is cheaper, faster, more accurate and capable of detecting the disease earlier. He’s also happily out with a great family. Here you can see the moment he won turned into an Intel commercial, and it’s truly joyous to watch.

15 year old Jake developed this test after his uncle died of pancreatic cancer so that others could be diagnosed earlier. I love this kid!

This article on The New Civil Rights Movement website talks about his coming out and his amazing supportive family :

Jake, you should win the Nobel Prize for Medicine.

As always, Tj sent me this article. He tries to cheer us up and demonstrate that the world is not such a barren place after all.

    • He’s such a brilliant teenager. I think his family has to be commended as well. I hope he has an incredible and fulfilling life.

  • What an amazing kid! Congratulations to him and as someone who lost a sister to appendiceaI cancer that had spread extensively before it was detected, I hope his invention goes on to be a huge success.

    • I’m so sorry for your loss Laura. I hope that Jake and others like him will come up with early warning tests in the future that will make deaths like hers a thing of the past. Thank you for commenting.
