I’ve enjoyed every Lane Hayes book I’ve read, but this is probably my favorite since Better Than Good. A favorite trope of mind is second chance story lines and she certainly delivered a good one.
What I loved:

*It was a great combination of sweet and sexy.
*Story flowed naturally. Not a dull moment.
*The characters- including Mack the dog.
I’m a total sucker for stories with dogs!

*Character development, growth.
*The way she developed their relationship.
*The epilogue. I became so emotional and before I realized it, I was crying. Beautiful. Probably one of the best- if not the best I’ve ever read.
What I didn’t love:

*It’s written in first person POV. We only get Brandon’s voice. I so badly wanted to be in Jake’s head- hear his thoughts.
Also, this is the second book in a series of stand-alone. Technically you can read it without reading the first one, but it was pretty good so I wouldn’t recommend skipping it.
Overall, this was a home run for me. Exquisitely written. Cannot recommend this book and this author enough. 4.5 Stars rounded up to 5. Can’t freaking wait for this author’s next book!
The Right and Wrong Series
I love this series by Lane Hayes, especially this story because of Mack, who at times almost overshadowed the MCs. 🙂 I especially loved that the author did not depend on sex to expand the word count and gave readers a well written story with memorable, well developed characters. Great job on the review.
PS: I agree with you about the epilogue. Inevitable, but I still wept. 🙁

The dog in your picture is beautiful. I love stories with dogs as I’m a HUGE dog lover. All of the characters in the book were well crafted, but Mack stole the show for me. 🙂 He reminded me so much of my Doberman, Jesse when he was close to the end; it was heartbreaking. He was such a loving companion.
