Julian “Quinn” Quintero, a gruff, tough Miami SWAT officer, has been injured on the job, and all he’s looking for is a little peace and quiet to recover—difficult to achieve with his large Cuban family. An adventure in picking up his prescriptions puts him in the path of his geeky, brownie-baking neighbor, Spencer Morgan. Spencer sweeps into Quinn’s life like a tropical storm of sunshine and rainbows. Not surprisingly, it’s chaos at first sight. Quinn’s in need of a little tender loving care, and Spencer decides he’s just the man for the job. Their very different lives might clash, but they might also find some common ground—and maybe more.
Beware of Geeks Bearing Gifts is a sweet opposites attract story of Quinn and Spencer. Spencer has had a crush on his neighbor Quinn for a while and after Quinn is injured in the line of duty Spencer is able to be there for him.
This was such a delightful little treat. For a short story it certainly delivered. It had:
-
*Great characters
*Relationship development. I loved the way she brought them together.
*Humor
*Teensy bit of angst
*Nice feel good vibe. I had a perma-grin almost the entire time I was reading it!
My only complaint: I sure wish it was longer. I would have loved a full-length story of these two. They were so lovable!
This was actually my first Charlie Cochet and I now know why she has such a strong fan base. Her writing just flows. I am very much looking forward to reading more from her. Overall this was a 4 star read for me. I would’ve rated higher, but I was left wanting more at the end – as does happen often with novellas. Definitely recommend it, though! If you’re in the mood for a sweet quick read then look no further!
