He happens to be out listening to his brother play at a bar on New Years Eve, when he meets Abraham Weldon. Sparks fly and they end up sharing a passionate night together, but Weldon knows nothing will come of it since Dan thinks he is “not cut out for kids.” Especially when Weldon has five children of his own, ranging from three to sixteen. He does realize though, that after the death of his wife three long years ago, he is ready to put himself back out there.
After New years, Weldon does not pursue Dan, as much as it pains him. He is a ‘love forever’ type of guy especially given his past relationships: his deceased wife and his high school love, Blake. Then finally after four months, Dan reaches out to Weldon once again. What starts off as just two friends getting together talking, then falling into bed, ultimately turns into something more. Dan starts to find himself, and not just in relation to where he stands with Weldon and his kids, but in life as well. There are a lot of growing pains not just between the adults, but also between the children. There is a bit of drama when it comes to the older child Jakob, whom is blind. However, this obstacle is rectified at the end and of course everyone is given their HEA.
I really did enjoy this book in the series! I actually have to say, I liked it a bit more than the first! I enjoyed how it continued on with Audie and Dix’s story. I especially LOVED the dynamic of Weldon’s family. They are not perfect, nor do they pretend to be. IMO, it closely represents how a large single parent family would function. In addition, the chemistry between all the characters in the story is beautifully done. I liked how they all worked together and helped each other out; like how things use to be.
This is the second book in the “Love is Blind” series, and it can be read as a standalone.
