English Professor Jeremy Aberdeen is very concerned that no one would bid on him at the bachelor auction that he had spearheaded to raise funds for his college’s GLBT club which could really use the money. He was competing with younger, better looking participants in the auction and it seemed reasonable to assume that most bidders would want them rather than someone like himself. To his disbelief someone bid a lot of money anonymously to have a dinner date with him – in fact his was the highest bid in the auction.
When he tries to find out who his date would be the only information he could get was that the bidder was female, which was totally unexpected since it was well-known on campus that he was gay. He shows up for his date and prepares to endure it when his former Teaching Assistant Derek Watson arrives and he figures out who his anonymous bidder really is. After he gets over his shock Jeremy and Derek catch up on the past 2 years since Derek left and eventually they go to Jeremy’s apartment for a nightcap. One thing leads to another and they end up in bed where Jeremy realizes that there is a side to Derek that he wanted to explore in depth. The sex between them was even better than he had anticipated. Could Derek be the one he had been waiting for?
Although Bachelor Auction was short it was definitely sweet and Vic Winter created two terrific characters in Jeremy and Derek. This was a fun book and I would recommend it to anyone who would like to spend time with these two guys.
