The wonderful writer Jourdan Lane, author of the paranormal Soul Mates series – will be my guest on the blog on Monday, October 6th. Jourdan has written two other Soul Mates short stories, Possession in the Spiked anthology and A Coven Christmas. The author doesn’t only write about vampires and werewolves, she has published a contemporary story – Surrender – in the Cowboys Up anthology and has a number of other contemporary projects on her drawing board which I hope she’ll talk about. Marked – a Halloween Short about a paranormal investigation team is also available from Torquere along with all of Jourdan’s other books.
We hope Jourdan will discuss her new Soul Mates release – Secrets which will be published on October 22nd and maybe she’ll reveal a secret (yes, the pun was intended *g*) or two about the story as well as what makes her tick. I asked her about such things as how many more books we can expect starring Peter and Lucien, and what will happen with Sabaan, Nikolas, Simon, Rhys and all the other characters in the books. I also questioned her about the rumour that she’s writing a prequel to the series, a book about Antoine Chavarria, Lucien’s sire.
The interview will be far ranging (some may say long ) 😀 and cover a number of topics including one of my personal favourites “what does she think about when she’s writing those sex scenes between 2, 3 and 4 vampires and werewolves ? :)”
To those of you who submitted questions (you know who you are) I really appreciate your input and contributions. None of these interviews would be as interesting and in-depth without the input of fans of the authors and their books. Thank you.
Here’s another preview – for the new book which I just received from Jourdan
Jourdan is currently writing a “free” Halloween story which will be posted on her website and I’ll post the link on the blog as soon as it’s completed. Here’s a short blurb.
The first-ever Halloween Ball is taking place at the Delacroix mansion. With Lucien’s permission, Sabaan wants to be a part of the night’s entertainment. Nikolas, however, has even bigger plans to make the night one no one will soon forget.
I hope to see you on October 6 on the blog for Jourdan’s interview.

Hey Wave,
Looking forward to the interview. Thanks for the snippets also. I’m hoping these and the interview keep me going till the 22nd ;D
Hi Lily
It’s a fabulous book, as always. I’m half way through and can’t get enough of Soul Mates *g*
Wave
By the way Lily, thanks for your questions – they are in the batch I sent to Jourdan.
I *need* an ARC of Secrets. Or I shall surely perish.
Kthxbye.
Hi Jen
Jourdan said and I quote “the book is still in proofing and hasn’t been cleared as yet”. October 22 is not too far away.
She sent all those goodies to help you along – said “goodies” being the blurb which she had to write last night because I asked for one to post for the fans of the series, along with the “preview”. Not to worry – she’ll give you all kinds of hints in the interview about what’s going to happen in “Secrets” *g*. The book cover hasn’t even been approved as yet!!
Argh. But no advance copies? So cruel.
It is just wrong that a Canadian will get to read Secrets before a Texan. Wrong, I say! 😛
Oct 22 is an eternity away.
*pouts, stomps, and kicks some red Texas dirt*
You know Jen – I never really looked at it that way. We’re both in North America and have much in common, not the least of which is books. I would never dream of saying that you didn’t have a right to read books written by Canadians, of which there are many *g*. Just think of me as an honorary Texan.
Jourdan did promise to give away as many secrets as she could without getting into trouble with the publishers.
Yeah yeah…neighborly love and all that. 😛
I can’t wait ’til Oct 22. I’ll be on it like a duck on a junebug.
Duck on a junebug? *g* Someday you’ll have to explain to me what that means. Oct.22nd is just 3 weeks ago 🙂
PS Neighborly love is a good thing *g*
I enjoy reading Jourdan Lane. I’ve been reading her Soul Mates series since it was posted on her group for free. I actually still have those stories in some dark corner of my puter somewhere, and am looking forward to seeing how she polished them up when they’re published.
My main problem is that there are just too many frickin people in the bed with Lucien and Peter, and it frustrates me more with every book that comes out. They both bang people as a game, which takes some of the enjoyment out of the books for me.
I dealt right from the beginning with the issue of their non-monogamous relationship and was able to set their sexual exploits aside and enjoy this terrific series. I think Peter has had more bed partners but he can always justify his lapses 🙂
But then we get back into the romance vs porn debate. Sex for the sake of sex, or to get back at your partner for pissing you off or whatever other slight is porn.
Banging multiple people indiscriminately just doesn’t seem very romantic to me, so I think the books are sort of mislabeled as paranormal romances.
I like the writing…I just wish I didn’t have to fast forward through yet another pornolicious(tm Emmy *g*) scene. I end up reading maybe half the book by the end.
oopsie..I meant to add
I also questioned her about the rumour that she’s writing a prequel to the series, a book about Antoine Chavarria, Lucien’s sire.
Not writing..editing a previously written story. In the Shadows is Antoine/Melanie’s story, and Eternally Yours is Lukas/Catherine/Christopher’s story.
You might remember that Antoine and Christopher were presented as lovers in Bound by Blood, which is confusing if you read In the Shadows and Eternally Yours. I’m interested in seeing the changes made to the stories to make the prequels mesh with the rest of the Soul Mates series. If you’re still taking interview questions, I’d be interested in the answer to that.
Hi Emmy
I try not to label books when I read and review them, other than using the publishers’ genres. IMO there is no doubt about the love between Lucien and Peter as portrayed in the books, (despite the fact they have multiple partners – I guess a lot of vamps and weres do but maybe not so much *g*). Since there’s so much love between them I believe that would qualify the series a paranormal romance, but that’s just me.
Anyone familiar with this series knows going in what to expect, so they should not be surprised that there’s lots and lots of sex. I would certainly not categorize it as porn, which has no storyline just mindless sex.
I like the complexity of the plots (I don’t think there can be any debate that the storyline is very complex) and just when the reader thinks she has it all figured out, Jordan adds another layer to the story. Personally, I really love this series.
Re Antoine Chavarria’s story, I have not read either In the Shadows or Eternally Yours so I don’t know much about the back story; I had read somewhere else that it was a “new” story. I’m expecting to have the completed interview back by today so it’s too late to ask any more questions but hopefully Jordan may be able to answer additional questions after the interview is posted on the blog.
Emmy
I have an update for you . I just read Jourdan’s answers to the interview questions and not only does she address your issue with the polyamorous relationships in the coven, but she also talks about the “prequel” and the previous Soul Mates books. Stay tuned *g*
Wave,
Thank you for introducing me to Jourdan Lane. I will be placing her books in my Amazon cart for future purchase! I love these interviews you do for a virgin reader like me to the world of M/M. It really helps when choosing what books to read.. Thanks a bunch as always
Hi Ozakie
Thank you for stopping by and don’t forget to tune in on Monday for Jourdan’s interview which I think is great (having seen her answers)! Please note that her Soul Mates series is not for people who are turned off by blood and violence – this is a vampire/werewolf/other species series that stomps on sensibilities and preconceived notions about paranormals and monogamous relationships
Wave,
Oh that is so sweet of you for the disclaimer, but believe me when I tell you with my previous experience reading Anne Rice and now that Im fully addicted to the Twilight series (swoon over Edward Cullen), I FULLY prepared to read some vampire/werewolf/other species with some seriously hot Man/Man action! Haha
