THE BLURB
Tyler lost Rory three years ago, taking a promotion, and a move, that Rory just couldn’t accept. Miserable without the one man he truly loves, Tyler finally returns to his hometown to try and win Rory back, only to find he’s too late. Rory is about to get married. Heartbroken, Tyler decides to try to stop the wedding, but even if he can, will Rory be willing to give him another chance?
THE REVIEW
This is a tale of love lost and found.
Tyler had always selfishly taken Rory for granted, expecting Rory to follow him from one end of the country to the other. Nine years of this lifestyle, until one fateful day Rory rebelled when he decided that enough was enough and left Tyler, even though his heart was breaking. Now Tyler is back, having quit his latest job because he was lonely without Rory and nothing else mattered but to be with him again. But Rory rejects him when he shows up at his door and gives him the devastating news that he’s getting married the next day. Then Tyler hits on a unique way to get Rory back in his arms. Will Rory succumb to Tyler’s charms?
Parts of this short story are so poignant when Tyler realizes that he just might be too late to claim the most important person in his life. The author gave us enough back story on these two men to paint a picture of how inseparable they had been throughout their lives and the love that had always held them together like glue, until Rory decided that the life Tyler wanted was incompatible with his ideal of the white picket fence and the rest of the trappings.
First, A Dance was such a sweet story and the ending was really moving – just what I have come to expect from Dakota Flint.is part of the Torquere Press Wedding Sip Blitz, a collection of 21 stories.
