I noticed very early this morning that the “comments” function has been disabled on some posts and I fixed a few of them that I could find. This is a WordPress problem which is affecting other blogs as well but no one has come up with a solution. If you notice that this function is disabled on a post where you’re trying to leave a comment please email me at jessewave@gmail.com
I should also point out a secondary problem. It seems that WordPress is not allowing comments from bloggers who either don’t have a WP account or are not regiistered on this site. This is not my requirement and this is the first time I heard about it. When Christian is available he’ll look into the matter to see if there’s a way around it.

Is the “awaiting moderation” on a submitted comment part of this problem? I don’t seem to recall seeing that before, though perhaps I’ve forgotten? I haven’t made too many comments, but I don’t think I’ve ever had one that showed “awaiting moderation” after I submitted it – that just happened to me on the Camp Hell post. Technology is hell! 🙂

I have spent the entire afternoon trying to untangle this mess. I have had to release a bunch of comments which were “awaiting moderation”. This is WordPress problem. I just released your Camp Hell comment. Be patient. We’re working on the problem. Thanks for letting me know.

Not quite Christian. I’m still getting emails from bloggers whose comments were refused because they don’t have a WP account or are not registered on the site. I guess it will take some time to fix.:(
Not impatient at all – just wanted to let you know about this aspect of the problem in case you didn’t! I work on websites – I definitely understand; this stuff can drive you insane.
Things like this can really drive you batty, can’t they?
I couldn’t reply last night my time, and I had to register with the site. I thought it was just something new that had come up. After I registered, I was able to comment okay. Before that, I think I was replying with my Google account.

Thanks for being patient. Everything seems to be fixed now – at least for this current problem:) I have to remember not to feel overcome wih all the daily issues of running a website like this. And this was supposed to be fun!!!*g*
I went to comment on an earlier entry (about why the hell aren’t I writing LOL, god I wish I knew the answer to THAT one) – having just got back from holiday and trying deperately to catch up – and saw this message:
“Responses are currently closed, but you can trackback from your own site. Go back to HOME.”
Is that the same thing? Or do you close comments anyway after a period of time? (which I could well understand).
No problem for me, I’ll yabber on at another date, but I thought I’d mention it. 🙂

As I explained, it is not my policy to close comments on any post. I’m still getting comments from posts that are over a year old. This was definitely a glitch and I will check the particular post that you’re referring to to see if the problem has been fixed there. I have to reverse some of these errors individually. Hopefully you should be able to comment later today on the post.
