Fun Writing Competition – Looking for Judges

Many of you thought that the idea of a writing competition this summer would be a really fun thing. So the first step, before I invite you to submit your wonderful entries and set up a special email contact, is to find a few judges. This then is a “submission” call for judges for either contemporary stories or paranormal/historical/science fiction stories. Judging does not eliminate you from the competition but of course if you’re going to submit your contemporary story you can’t be a judge in that category but you can be a judge for another category. 🙂 No cheating is allowed so you can’t stack the odds in your favour for the grand prize.

So far I believe Kris, TJ and Wren offered to be judges. However we will need lots more if we get many entries. Please indicate on this post if you wish to judge contemporary or historical/paranormal/science fiction. I hope that some of you will volunteer to judge the paranormal/science fiction/historical category even though contemporary is your favourite. It shouldn’t be onerous because I’m thinking of setting an upper limit of 3000 words for each story and I’ll think of other rules (such as no offers to kiss the judge if your entry wins) before I open the competition July 1. 🙂

Thanks guys.

I would even prefer to be a paranormal/scifi judge. Because I do like contemp I like the other stuff better.

    Hi Wave,
You know,I promised not to write a story.:)
But to be a judge? – Why not.
    I would like to,but it`s your decision.:)

I’d like to be a judge in the contemporary category, if possible. This sounds like it’s going to be a lot of fun. 🙂

No way in hell am I kissing Kris. At least not with tongue. 😛 Wren maybe. 😀

I can be a judge in any category if you are desperate. I might write something and I have no clue what category it will be in but I can probably massage it to be not the category I’m judging in.

Well, since I won’t be doing any of the writing I can be a judge in any category.

I think all this free time is going to my head :).

I wouldn’t mind being a judge. I’ve done it before(once)for a couple of full length novels.
I would prefer paranormal/futuristic. I don’t like historicals though, unless there is time travel or paranormal elements. Or the Old West.

OK I think we have enough judges now with the other 3 who volunteered.

Tam you will definitely have to kiss Kris – she insists. Since you will be sharing a room with her at YAOI/con, what’s a kiss?

Thanks Ingrid, Simsala, Lily, Jen (you do realize that this won’t be like any other contest you’ve judged, don’t you? Think of Tam’s gerbil shifter LOL). Tam (what’s left for you to write about?) Pam, Katiebabs (looking forward to your story, and no cheating,) and BethC.

Now I have to come up with rules in addition to no kissing the judges. If you can think of anything please leave a comment on the post. 🙂

Sounds like you have plenty of judges. If it turns out you need another judge, I’d be willing to judge either category. I definitely would not be submitting an entry.
