Justacat made an excellent suggestion that I open a thread for you, our loyal readers, to add your own top books for 2010 so that others would have access to it, in addition to the Top Ten Lists from the guest reviewers and me. So because I always listen to your suggestions 🙂 here’s your own post. All you have to do is add your comments. It will be interesting to see your recommended books that you read last year. I know it will be hard, but you have to confine yourself to last year’s reads. This way we can all go on a book buying binge together.
This thread will be left open indefinitely.

I put my list in the reviewers thread but I will add them again here. Also I noticed I forgot to mention one book so here it is:
Jet Mykkles – Two man team
Sloan Parker – More
Anah Crow & Diana Fox – Slow Bloom
Jullie Bozza – The definitive Albert Sterne
Andrea Speed – Infected Prey & Bloodlines
Harper Fox – Driftwood
Ouch I did a count of the books I read this year, ca 243. Should I be happy or bemoan my poor credit card?
Ingrid,
I’ve got you beat, although I think its pretty sad how many I’ve read. I just looked at my list, 357. ouch…. 🙂
I read 51 books this year.
horror 11
erotica 15
SF 5
paranormal 10
mystery 2
fantasy 5
Nonfiction 3
My top 10, not all M/M and in no particular order:
1) Orgy of Souls. Wrath James White and Maurice Broaddus. Sexy, pansexual, erotic horror as handsome male model trades 12 souls for the life of his brother the priest, who is dying of AIDS.
2) Seti’s Heart. Kiernan Kelly. m/m. Gorgeous, lush paranormal romance.
3) Soul of the Mummy. BG Thomas. m/m paranormal. Really excellent debut novella.
4) Depraved. Bryan Smith. horror. Nasty little backwater town with nasty customs swallows up some travelers.
5) Labyrinth of the Dead. Sara M. Harvey. f/f, steampunk. Half-angel demon hunter Portia searches for her Imogen through a gritty underworld.
6) An Uncommon Whore. Belinda McBride. M/m SF. Another in the “humans owned by giant reptiles” trope, but nicely done.
7) The First Real Thing. Cat Grant. M/m contemporary. I’m biased. I beta’d.
8) Harlan County Horrors. Edited by Mari Atkins. Terrific (in all senses) anthology of horror stories set around Harlan County KY.
9) Cerulean Sins. Laurell K Hamilton. Anita Blake in fine form, even if there is a lot of sex. She’s raising the dead, solving murders and being pursued by someone herself.
10)Filthy Shakespeare: Shakespeare’s Most Outrageous Sexual Puns. Pauline Kiernan. Nonfiction. Gave me some ideas for dealing with all the sexy Shakespeare calls this year.
These are not in order as thats just asking too much. They are also the books I keep re-reading.
Slow Bloom Anah Crow & Dianne Fox
A Midwinter Prince Harper Fox
Fair Game Josh Lanyon
The Dark Horse Kate Sherwood
Tootsies Sarah Black
Special Delivery Heidi Cullinan
Gathering Storm Lyn Gala
Bad Case of Loving You Lainey Cairo
The Curtis Reincarnation Zathryn Priest
Life, Over Easy K A Mitchell
My thanks to all these writers and many more for sharing such different worlds with me.
I’m going to add Unwrapped by BA Tortuga to my top books I reviewed for 2010. I didn’t add it for the original post because the review came out after that particular post.
Here are a few of my favorite M/M books I read in 2010:
Sticks and Stones by Madeleine Urban, Abigail Roux
Fish and Chips by Madeleine Urban, Abigail Roux
My Summer of Wes by Missy Welsh
Dangerous Ground series by Josh Lanyon
Holmes and Moriarity series by Josh Lanyon
Duty and Devotion by Tere Michaels
Strawberries for Dessert by Marie Sexton
I read 798 books in 2010, about 2/3 were for the first time. For my list of top whatever, I’m ignoring all the rereads and leaving off tons of excellent books, plus I’m limiting myself (sort of) to one book per author. In no particular order, and not all M/M or even romance:
* The Secret Life of Lobsters by Trevor Corson – freaking amazing book considering the subject matter
* The Adrien English series by Josh Lanyon – okay, I’m cheating, but I read them all over the course of a day so they felt like one book
* Duck! by Kim Dare – a kick ass redo of the ugly duckling fairy tale
* Sno Ho and Life In Fusion – Ethan Day – yep, cheating again, because I can – no excuse this time, or any of the other ones below
* #5-#8 of the Reacher series by Lee Child – those are the ones I read this year, just love Child’s Reacher character
* Gathering Storm by Lyn Gala – god that was intense
* On the Road by Jack Kerouac – weird that I hadn’t read this one before, obviously a classic
* Masters of the Shadowlands by Cherise Sinclair – Sinclair totally does BDSM right
* Switch (and a bunch of the others) by Claire Thompson – Claire is the master (pun intended)
* S by John Updike – OMG, this was the most hysterical and yet deep book I’ve ever stumbled across in a used book store.
* Lessons series by Charlie Cochrane – amazing characters
* Life, Over Easy by KA Mitchell – KA Rocks. Just saying.
* An Unexpected Light: Travels in Afghanistan by Jason Elliot – amazing book if you like what is basically a journal of someone’s travel, which I do
* And Call Me in the Morning by Willa Okati – anything by Willa, this is just one of the most recently read
* Wild Irish series by Mari Carr – a rockin, sweet, hot, fun series
I want to put a bunch more on there, but I’ll stop at a baker’s dozen.
Ooooooo, ok, so these year reads, yes? The books do not have to be written and published this year necessarily?

13. Josh Lanyon “Fair game”
14. Harper Fox “Driftwood”
15. Giselle Ellis “Take my picture”.
OMG that was so hard to do, only name few favorits 🙂

And Call Me in the Morning by Willa Okati
As with Sirius, these are ones that I read for the first time in 2010, so not necessarily published for the first time in 2010. And yes, I’m cheating by treating several series as one entry each, but do you blame me?
1. Manna Francis The Administration
2. Jane Seville Zero at the Bone
3. Jordan Castillo Price Psycops 1 to 5
4. Jez Morrow Force of Law
5. James Buchanan Hard Fall

A splendid year for longer books, for contemporaries, for thrillers and for a goodly lashing of magic. Just how I like it. Many of these I discovered through your site, Wave, so thank you for all the good work in 2010, and a happy new year to all in 2011
God knows how many books I read, I read tons of shorts so the answer is “lots”. If I go to Good Reads (which I need to update badly) and go by those I gave 5 stars in 2010, they were (in no particular order) and books I READ in 2010, some were probably released in 2009.
Go Fish by HT Murray
InDescent by KZ Snow
Petit Morts 1,3 by Jordan Castillo Price
Breakfast at Tiffany’s by Lynn Lorenz
Can’t Hurry Love by M. Jules Aedin

There were tons of 4.5 and 4 star level books but these were the ones that merited 5 in my mind.
Wow….tough. I refuse to count how many I bought. I’m just thinking I did my part to boost the economy. These are the books I at least *bought* in 2010 and that I’ve re-re-reread numerous times.

Heaven Sent series – Jet Mykles

Well, I need to quit this and get ready for the upcoming reality check, i.e. work week! 🙁
I tried to be good and only did books published in 2010 so I had to leave out some favorites that I read for the year.
1. Driftwood- Harper Fox
2. Match Maker- Alan Chin
3. Sleepwalker- Jordan Price
4. His for the Holidays- All 4 stories! Harper Fox, Z.A. Maxfield, Josh Lanyon and L.B. Gregg

9. Like Coffee and Doughnuts, and Like Pizza and Beer by Elle Parker
10. Great Restorations-Libby Drew
11. Talker-Amy Lane (I just can’t leave it out)
I might’ve cheated a bit with the series and collections but it’s hard to pick one favorite from the bunch (especially the amazing collection in His for the Holidays). And yeah, I have a favorite Petit Morts, but I love all the rest almost as much.
I read 612 books total this year. At least 2/3 of those were rereads or M/F, so I am making this list from Books I’ve read for the first time this year that are M/M only.
1) Dracul’s Blood/Anarchy in Blood both by Carol Lynne & TA Chase
2) The City Series by Carol Lynne
3) Truth in the Dark by Amy Lane

7) Jaynell’s Wolf by Amber Kell
8) Love Means Freedom by Andrew Grey
9) The Thrown to the Lions series by Kim Dare
10) Timing by Mary Calmes
I fit as many as I could on the list because 10 is far too confining!
I tried to edit my last post, I couldn’t figure out how in time.
I only listed books that I didn’t think had been listed already, but unfortunately I see I failed.
I thought my Credit Card was hurting as I’ve bought 138 m/m books in the past year – and this doesn’t include all the free books I’ve read as well.
I have loved most of them and really appreciate sites like this. I can’t begin to pick my fav books – there have been too many, but authors are Jet Mykles, T.A. Chase, Ally Blue, K.A. Mitchell, Madeleine Urban, Cameron Dane, Willa Okati, Ashlyn Kane, J.L. Langley, Josh Lanyon, and Chris Owen.
My list of books read for the first time this year totals 404. That doesn’t count the ‘read multiple times’ or the books read online and not saved on my hard drive. It was a very good year!
My list, in no particular order:
Duck! by Kim Dare also her Thrown to the Lions series
Anagama Fires by Sarah Black
Talker, Truth In the Dark, Bewitched by Bella’s Brother by Amy Lane
Andrew Grey’s Love Means… series
TC Blue’s The One That…series especially The One That Stayed
The Wish by Eden Winters
Rain by LA Witt
Strawberries for Dessert by Marie Sexton
Be the Air For You by TA Chase
Colliding in Free Fall by Vivien Dean
Fugly by KZ Snow
Sonoran Heat by Katrina Strauss
Quinn’s Hart by Cassandra Gold
Family Unit by ZA Maxfield
Arson of the Heart by Sasha Miller
2 beautifully written shorts by George Seaton – Another Fine Christmas and Just For Christmas
There are some amazing books in this list, folks! I’ve read a lot of them but have missed even more. Thank you all for taking the time to share your favorites with us!
To those of you who have read 300+ books, I am simply amazed! My Kindle shows 331 items, but my unread folder numbers 74, so you clearly out-read me–and I thought I’d read a bunch. Here’s to helping the economy through M/M Romance books! 🙂
I guess I’d better chime in, since I inspired this post! It’s hard to narrow down, though; looks there were 605 m/m books that I read for the first time this year (not all published this year) – that doesn’t include countless re-reads…
These were my favorites (not in order):
Double Blind, by Heidi Cullinan
Promises, by Marie Sexton (and its sequels to a slightly lesser extent)
Infected: Prey, by Andrea Speed
Life After Joe, by Harper Fox
Fair Game, by Josh Lanyon (also A Vintage Affair and Critic’s Choice)

Those are my favorites, but some others that deserve mention out of the 600 include No Souvenirs by K.A. Mitchell; the Lord of the White Hell books by Ginn Hale; The Trap by Indigo Wren; The Gentleman and the Rogue by Bonnie Dee & Summer Devon; Prove a Villain by K.C. Warwick; Fall of a State by Kate Cotoner; Well Traveled by Margaret Mills & Tedy Ward; Everything Under the Sun by Rachel West; Branded by Clare London; Blacque/Bleu (and An Uncommon Whore) by Belinda McBride; Hammer & Air by Amy Lane…

10 truly doesnt give justice to the talent that I have been introduced to these last 6 months.
My sister gave me a Kindle for my b-day in June. by the end of December, I had bought 325 books and my buttons on the Kindle dont respond as fast because of my constant use, and yes my husband hates my Kindle.
OMG!!
Shades of Gray – B.Mckinley
Zero at the Bone – J. Seville
See just too hard..
My favorites are on everybody’s lists, but if being listed multiple times helps to sway a reader about a particular book, here goes (and in no order; that’s too difficult!):
At Piper’s Point– Ethan Day (thanks for this one, Buda. :))
Life After Joe– Harper Fox
L.B. Gregg:
Trust Me If You Dare
Catch Me If You Can

Sticks & Stones
Fish & Chips

Josh Lanyon:
Somebody Killed his Editor
All She Wrote
Dangerous Ground 3: Blood Heat
Fair Game
I have several other books from 2010 in my e-reader that are rated highly by others. Unfortunately, I haven’t been able to get to them, yet. I might have to include an addendum to this list. 🙂
I only started reading M/M in May, so most of my favorite titles were published prior to 2010. I read about 250 titles, and sadly, that didn’t make a dent in my TBR list. I also cheated and counted a series as one title. In no particular order my favorites are:
The Archer – Abigail Roux
Dark Horse/Out of the Darkness – Kate Sherwood
Bay City Paranormal Investigation series – Ally Blue
Cut & Run series – Madeleine Urban and Abigail Roux
Aloes and Sea Change – Chris Quinton
911 – Chris Owen
Fair Game – Josh Lanyon
State of Mind – Libby Drew
The Draegan Lords series – ML Rhodes
And Call Me in the Morning – Willa Okati
I’m not even going to attempt to count how many books I read in 2010 so I’ll just stick to my top 10 (in no particular order):
Truth in the Dark – Amy Lane
Take My Picture – Giselle Ellis
Duck! – Kim Dare
Finding Zach – Rowen Speedwell
Everything Under The Sun – Rachel West
Resistance – L.M. Turner

and a couple honorable mentions:
The Good Thief – James Buchanan
In The Flesh – Ethan Stone
Force of Law – Jez Morrow
Witness – L.A. Gilbert
The Telling/The Angel of Thirteenth Street – Eden Winters
I too, am so new to reading M/M, that I only started in June of last year. I actually stumbled across a mainstream book by Suzanne Brockmann called “All through the Night”. It’s really a lovely written M/M book, but toned down a lot in the sex scenes because it is mainstream. (If you haven’t heard of it or read it, give it a try–You will fall in love with Jules & Robin).
Here is my list, in no particular order.
Cut & Run Series-Urban/Roux
Mortal Enemies-JL Farnsworth
Between the Darkness & Light-PA Brown
His Brother’s Keeper-Ali Katz
Nick Fallon Investigations-JP Bowie
Devin & Garrick-Cameron Dane
