Cason: Climbing the 7 Summits to benefit The Trevor Project

News brief ….

Cason Crane, an inspiring young man from New Jersey, was on the Anderson Show today talking about his project to raise money for The Trevor Project. Casoncason crane wants to be the first openly gay person to climb the 7 summits of the world. He is only 20 and so far has climbed 5 of the 7 summits, the highest mountain on each continent.

100% of all donations go to The Trevor Project which offers crisis intervention and suicide prevention services for GLBTQ youth. So far Cason has raised $46,000 towards The Trevor Project and hopes to raise $250,000. He started this project due to the suicide of one of his friends and he wants to spread awareness about the issues faced by gay teens.

If you would like to donate towards Cason’s goal you can text: Summits 85944 to pledge a $5 donation – remember to reply with “YES.”  You can also click on the “Donate” button on the site if you would like to contribute a different amount.

  • This is a great project, thanks for telling us, Wave.
Most of us had cried when learned on the news that a gay teenager killed himself or herself, but what are we doing to prevent the next suicide?
    For now, I’m supporting Cason.
BTW I read the following on his website ‘A large part of The Rainbow Summits Project’s mission is to inspire and empower other people to star their own journeys.’
So, who knows, maybe one of us will come up with another project that will also save lives.
