This was a short story about learning to live with what life has dealt us but at the same time recognizing what is most important before we lose it.
A little over a year ago Owen was hurt while out hiking. It tore up his shoulder and his rotator cuff and he is not healing like he thought he should be. He is still in a lot of pain and he can no longer do a lot of things that he used to enjoy doing with Sebastian. Things like kayaking and swimming and so on.
Because of the shoulder injury he has been moody and taking rhings out on Sebastian, his partner of six years. They have both been fighting more and more and it gets to the point that Sebastian realizes they need to take some time apart and that with that time apart Owen needs to decide if he believes in the love that Sebastian has for him.
Neither expect what happens next. A tsunami hits where Sebastian has went. He went to their getaway home and now Owen does not know if he made it through the tsunami or not. It may very well be to late for him to tell Sebastian that he is sorry and that he loves him with everything he is.
This was a short story that was full of pain. It was full of pain because Owen in my opinion did not see himself being good enough for Sebastian any longer. Sebastian never felt that way but I think that the shoulder injury and Owen’s insecurities because of not being to do what he used to do wrecked havoc on his emotional well being. It made him feel like he was no longer worthy of Sebastian.
Sebastian loves Owen with all his heart and I believe that all he really cared about is spending his life with Owen no matter if he can do the things he used to could do or not. That is not what is important to him, loving Owen is.
That love that Sebastian has for Owen and the love Owen has for Sebastian is what makes this story so special. It is what makes this story so amazing and why I enjoyed it so much. Nic Starr did an amazing job!!
